The right size keeps your child warm, free to run around and comfortable in the stroller, and lasts the whole season. At DoRechi a clothing size is your child's height in centimetres, and a hat size is the head circumference. Below: how to measure your little one, how much room to leave and which sizes each DoRechi model comes in.
How to measure your child's height
- Baby: lay your baby on a flat, firm surface, gently straighten the legs and measure from the top of the head to the heels.
- Child who can stand: stand them barefoot with their back to a wall, heels together, place a book flat on the top of the head and mark the wall.
- Round the result to the nearest centimetre.
How much room to leave
Add about 6 cm to your child's height for growth during the cold months (winter snowsuits) or during the season (mid-season models). For example, if your child is 1 year old and 82 cm tall, choose the 86-92 cm snowsuit: 82 + 6 = 88 cm.
Every child grows at their own pace, so go by height, not age. The ages in the tables below are only a guide.
Height and approximate age
| Height | Age (approx.) | DoRechi models |
| 56-62 cm | 0-3 months | Discovery, Eclair, Zefir |
| 62-68 cm | 3-6 months | Discovery, Eclair, Zefir |
| 68-74 cm | 6-9 months | Discovery, Eclair, Zefir |
| 74-80 cm | 9-15 months | Apollo |

| 86-92 cm | 18-24 months | Apollo |
| 92-98 cm | 24-36 months | Apollo, snow pants |
Average height by age
If you don't have a tape measure to hand, you can use average values as a rough guide. Measuring your own child is always more accurate.
| Age | Boys | Girls |
| 3 months | 62.5 cm | 60.8 cm |
| 6 months | 69 cm | 67 cm |
| 9 months | 73.5 cm | 71.5 cm |
| 12 months | 77.5 cm | 75.8 cm |
| 18 months | 84 cm | 82.2 cm |
| 24 months | 89.5 cm | 88 cm |
| 30 months | 93.5 cm | 92.2 cm |
| 36 months | 98 cm | 96.8 cm |

Hats and snoods: head circumference
A hat size is the head circumference in centimetres. Wrap a tape measure around the head across the forehead just above the eyebrows and over the ears, around the widest part of the back of the head.
| Model | Head circumference |
| Merino wool mix winter beanie | 38, 40, 42, 44, 46 cm |
| Merino wool mix winter beanie with pom-pom | 46, 48, 50 cm |
| Cotton mid-season beanie | 44-48 cm (up to 1.5 years), 48-52 cm (1-4 years) |
| Cotton beanie with ears | 38-46 cm |
| Snoods (winter and mid-season) | one size, up to 3 years |
If the head circumference falls between sizes, choose the larger one. How to choose a warm winter hat: see our guide winter hats for babies. All models are in hats, beanies and snoods.

Frequently asked questions
Should I buy a snowsuit one size up?
There is no need to go a whole size up. Add about 6 cm to your child's height for growth during the cold months and choose the size that includes this number. A snowsuit that is too big keeps warmth less well and gets in the way of movement.
What if my child's height is between two sizes?
Add 6 cm of room to the height. If the result is above the upper limit of the smaller size, choose the larger one. For example, at 75 cm (75 + 6 = 81 cm) the Apollo 80-86 cm is the right fit.
Can I choose the size by age?
Age is only a guide: children of the same age can differ noticeably in height. The most accurate way is to measure your child and use the table above.
How do I exchange a size that doesn't fit?
Exchange and return terms are on our exchange and returns page.
